can glass be buffed?
« on: June 17, 2013 - 08:36:24 PM »
Hello,

I have a door glass for my challenger that has a spot where someone hit it with the sand, or soda blaster. It has the appearance of frost, but it is not deep. Can this be buffed out? if so, what would I use?

there are glass polishing products , check Eastwood , just be careful , a friend polished his glass but it was no longer even & created a fish eye effect so he ended up replacing it anyway

I haven't used it so I won't compliment it. But I do plan to give it a try later on.

It is worth a shot.  The pros use cerium oxide.  Used with a special pad(sold with the polish), it can effectively remove minor blemishes.  You can try and find it at a local auto body supply store or automotive glass supply shop.  Otherwise try google.  It may or may not work. I have removed scratches that i never thought I could and not removed scratches that I thought would come out easy.  Good luck

Tempered cannot be buffed, it's too hard, trust me, back in my glass days, been there and tried that. However, very small blemishes in laminated(windshields)glass can be taken care of with a paste made from cerium oxide and a felt wheel, but if you go to far, you can distort the windshield.
