FIRM FEEL REAR SWAY BAR ??
« on: July 05, 2013 - 04:52:30 PM »
Hello was wondering if anybody has installed a rear sway bar from firm feel for a 1970-74 barracuda with a dana60 rear. I purchased a Firm Feel rear sway bar awhile back and was going to use my 8 3/4 rear but plans have changed and now I would like to go with a dana60 and i was wondering if it will still work?? or should I put the money in the 8 3/4 to make it posi /sure grip??

Thanks for your feedback

Good question,  I changed from a 8.75 to Dana and used the stock sway bar.
My issue is I also moved the spring perches in by 1" per side.

I'm wondering if a B-body sway bar would be better, since it's 2" narrower.

But I don't see any reason you can't use the stock 8.75 sway bar with the Dana, I did.

I just recently installed a FirmFeel rear sway bar on my 1970 'Cuda which has the narrower B-body Dana 60 rear end.  I wanted a bar that was similar to a stock bar and hung from the frame, not the rear axle.  Whether you have a narrowed B body Dana 60 or an E body Dana 60, you just have to call and tell them what you have for a rear end and they will set you up with the right bar.  I can feel the difference in how the car handles and goes into corners with the bar.  Before there was under steer and the rear end felt like it did not want to come around.  Now the car goes around corners much easier. Definitely worth the price.

Thanks for your reply's;

I just went out to measure the firm feel rear sway bar that I have and it measure 46" to the center at holes at each end of the bar so my question is I don't want to replace the firm feel bar that I already have so when ordering my dana60 what do I tell them?

Thanks Rob

If the spring perches are in the stock location, it will work as is.
There is nothing special or different between the 8.75 and Dana as far as the sway bar is concerned.

The sway bar connects to the frame and the shock plate HW.  Nothing special about the Dana.

Just curious.  If you're considering going with the Dana vs your stock 8 3/4 I would assume you're setting the car up for some serious HP, otherwise the original rear would work fine.  If that's so, I'd personally order the Dana in B Body length, order the Dr Diff 1" offset rear spring hangers, and put on 9.5 - 10" rear rims & wider tires.  You will want to call Firmfeel about using the E Body rear sway bar with the narrower rear, but I've read elsewhere here that it should still fit.  You may have already considered all this so if so .... nevermind!

I used the E body Bar on my Charger with different spring widths , I slipped my bar into the tralier hitch reciever on my Cummins & was able to bend the bar to match the width , the truck didn't move LOL
