How to assemble Dash
« on: August 02, 2013 - 08:39:29 AM »
Dear All,
my restored Cuda Dash is turned upside down and ready to be (re) assembled.
Where should I start from? Does someone have detailed instructions on how to asseble it?
Regards

R.

Well if you have the dash out of the car . . . I would probably mount the gauges first then arrange the wiring harness, then mount the switch pod cluster, hook it all up, mount the heater control and attach all the cables, install the radio and then all the lower trim and upper light bar.   I plan to build a new dash for my convertible as I currently have a standard dash but really prefer the rallye dash.   I have a lot of the parts already for the job.

I laid out the harness first.  I thought it would be easier to get the wires going in their general direction without having to work around other components.  The light bar wiring has to go through some small spaces to I had that all run before things got in the way.  Make sure you attach the right hand lower dash trim fairly early on.  The left hand lower dash trim goes on last...before you flip the assembly over.  The very last thing I did was install the center speaker and the plastic grill.  I didn't want any pressure on the grill so I did that last.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

When I pulled parts off my dash for rewiring I used this step by step guide. http://v8tvshow.com/content/view/717/1/ It goes through most of the steps of taking a part and reassembling the dash. For a bare bones assembly it probably won't have enough detail, but its somewhere to start.
