1971 cuda bumper (front and rear) install/removal diagram?
« on: May 14, 2015 - 12:08:07 PM »
Hi Friends-
Want to see if anybody has a link or a good diagram for the install and removal of the bumpers and / or valences.   The cuda I just bought is the blue one (383) off ebay and the bumpers are askew as well as the front valance is tweaked.   I want to get all that right as soon as I bleed the brakes and get that carb back in order.
The car:

FYI - I didn't pay 43 for it... the winning bidder flaked and I bought it from the owner as he was close.   Notice it's missing the crush can from the column and has a 1970 dash... not that I know the difference in dashes.

Who ever rebuilt the front suspension has the driver's side spindle on the passenger side and vice versa....
That's why the callipers on on the backside not the front like they are supposed to be....

you have any idea for a good quality / low cost alternative?   My wife basically castrated my wallet given the $ I just shelled out haha.

If they stop the car...I say leave them alone....You can correct all the details later as you enjoy the car...

They kinda' suck at stopping the car.  They feel warped over low miles haha.   I'll bleed the brakes and check the back drums to see if I can get that right first.   Still open to suggestions.

Nice looking car!  :2thumbs: I was watching that one close. Enjoy it for now as Alan suggested and start the hunt for the few things it needs. At least it was just the ole wallet that was inflicted the damage. :roflsmiley:

Funny you should say that!   The car was driven so rarely - that when I drove it home, I lost a valve stem and almost taco'd the car on the freeway!    Tow truck driver shows up and stands in the #5 lane taking photos while cars were wizzing by him :picture:       So between the stopping and carb+ throttle linkage issues, i'll be sure to get it rolling for next to nothing with some good reliability.   That and hopefully only a little cut & paste with the bumper alignment.

Cost of the car was 33.

Worse case you can get a cheap disc brake kit for around $400 with spindles, calipers, wheel bearings etc.  i think I remember  you said you were in Lake Forest.  That's my neck of the woods.  You can pick it up at Classic  industries in Huntington Beach when they have their sales and keep the wife happy  :2thumbs:

Or buy the pieces you need for a 76 Chrysler Cordoba at any auto store.  Same parts that come in right stuff kit
