Heres one for ya. A 1972 Dodge that will start, but when I release the key to the run positios it dies. If I hold the key forward so that it is halfway between run and start it will stay running but dies when it is released. I put a new electrical ignitionswitch in the column assuming it was wore out, did not fix it.. Could something be wore out in the key switch?  Does anybody have any ideas?

You probably have the dual ballast resistor & the run side is bad, just a bad ballast if it's the single style OR the wiring for the run power (blue) is bad/has poor connection somewhere along the way.
  Seen it here many times.

Where would the resistor be located on the car? I think I know what it looks  like as my Cuda has one on the firewall. Is this the same type of thing u are talking about?

usually on the firewall near the wiper motor , white ceramic block
