4-bbl Shaker differences?
« on: July 27, 2013 - 09:34:16 AM »
I was told there may be differences between a 340 4bbl shaker set up on a cuda and a challenger?? I'm not sure i believe this but if it is correct, what are they please?

(This relates specifically to a snowbar kit if that changes anything)

Thanks in advance, Tim.

Best bet would be to go right to the source and ask Snowbar?

The only difference between the Cuda 340 Shaker and the Challenger 340 Shaker is the hood.

Additional info:
The 340 shaker base plates are different between '70 and '71. 1971 plate is 1/4" lower than the 1970 plate. (Change from AVS to Thermoquad) Reproduction plates are based on '71 height. If you use a repro plate on a 1970 you will have to add a spacer to top of carb to get the bubble up in the hole correctly.

How about 383 shaker feet? Is anybody reproducing them? Are they different from 440 and 340 feet?

The 383 used a single support rod made of steel hex stock and machined for threads on either end.

One end threads into the middle hole of the front valley pan gasket reinforcement, the other end goes up through the round, raised boss on the shaker baseplate.

A special, jumbo wingnut holds it in place.

There was a fellow in the Rochester, NY area making exact reproductions at one time, though I do not know if they're still available.
