Fuel line confusion
« on: August 26, 2013 - 04:45:08 PM »
Looking at suppliers that sell restoration fuel lines, they all list main, return, and vent lines for our cars.  Best I can tell my '72 only has a 5/16" main (feed) line and a 1/4" vent line, and NO return line; does this make sense or am I missing a line?   :clueless:

The 'Cuda was built in early April of '72; a 340 4bbl (steel crank), automatic, with factory A/C.  It has multiple vent tubes at the front of the gas tank that have hoses running to a "chamber" on the frame body, with a single line running from the chamber up front to the charcoal canister.  That vent tube "breaks" up forward with a short rubber line, then back to steel.  The fuel pump only has a line in and a line out.

Also, any feedback regarding ready-made fuel line suppliers would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You want to deal with FINE LINES INC...Your car should only have the two lines you described.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

Correct, you should have a 5/16" fuel line and a 1/4" vapor line. The return lines are made for cars that run pressure regulators, handy if you've gone electric/aftermarket with your fuel pump.

I've got Inline Tube's 3/8" stainless steel fuel lines on a couple of my cars now, never had a problem with them.

Thanks guys, it is what I thought but based on the way they advertise the return lines as though they were a replacement i was not sure.

I have two supplier recommendations, what are the big differences?
