Toyo Proxes 4's in 275/40/17 all the way around on Summit Legend 5's in 17x9 with a 5" backspace. I also run 1.12" torsion bars and XHD springs out back and don't find the ride too harsh, even on the street, and I log about 10k miles a year. I will not be returning to 15" rims on any of my cars, there's just no decent tire selection in anything close to the right size, in anything resembling a performance tire.

With my 15x8 mini-lite TransAm rims, I've considered running BFG 295-50-15 front and rear... looks would be great and awesome!  Although they are listed to fit onto a 8" wide rim, i fell the bulge is too much.  My fender lips are already flushed and I disfavor doing any further, although, i might change my mind.   For the time being, my 15x8 rims will keep the BFG 245(255 soon) 60-15 front, abd the 275-60-15s rear.   I'm just about ready to order a set of BFG G-Force Comp-2 255-50-16s front/rear for my 16x10 race rims.. to replace the old/corded Hoosier A6 275-45-16s ... i figure that since I've sold my trailer (needed to save the life/performance of the race Hoosiers), and since I'm doing some more road course lapping session events (maybe some competition Solo events, such as Gingerman Raceway, SW MICH, Sept 15, 2013)... that i may as well be able to drive on these 16s (255-50-16 BFGs) and, hopefully, have decent satisfaction  (their tread=wear rated 340... wish it were softer like 200.. like their new BFG "RIVAL" tires.. but those tires are very limited in sizes.. would need to spend $$ on 18x10 new rims and buy their 275-35-18 tires front/rear.. for serious "competition road course solo sessions... just time/money... someday...!!!
Autocross/road racers go in deeper... and come out harder!

Cooper Cobra  235 60 15 on front and 255 60 15 on the rear.  Have run them for several years with no problems.  Neighbor has them on his AAR and likes them as well.
