Challenger chin spoiler location/template
« on: September 15, 2013 - 09:02:38 AM »
Hello All,
I apologize for asking again, but I can't seem to find the thread on a previous question I had on the factory location of the chin spoilers for a Challenger. Someone posted a picture of a nice template with dimensions and all........ Memory cells are fading...  :banghead:

Thanks again in advance...

It's not difficult to figure out. Go as far to the outside as you can before the hump for the turn signal light gets in the way.

Yeap, it was the forward/aft I was concerned about.....

I did it last night and as you mentioned, it was pretty straight forward and easy..... The worst part was being anal on the 1st hole being the proper location. After that, it went down hill....... Pictures stink in the garage late at night....

That's code for your front sway bar is mounted upside down, but I didn't want to sound rude... :misbehaving:

A nice thing about these Challenger chin T/A spoilers is that a floor jack handle fits right between them!

Also, I'm planning to adapt some front brake cooling air ducts to these spoliers... see the ones from RIGID (or Sears) shop vacuum accesories.. they have a 2-1/2" tube (needs face cutting), or else they have a 1-7/8" (2") tube that actually fits perfect inside the chin spoilers.. an easy winter project.

What are you doing for the disc side?

KATFISH -- As for the disc side, I haven't decided if I'll modify the dust shield with hose-attachment, although I may initially just aim the hose towards the center of the spindle.  A friend of mine is a pro TransAm road racer and advised / emphasized that the air is needed to enter into the center of the disc, through the vanes of the disc.. serving to cool the entire rotor as well as the spindle's bearings.   I will use proper brake duct hose (available from various sources).
