Installing under dash wiring question
« on: October 12, 2013 - 10:57:17 AM »
Greeting Gents.  I have a question.  I need to replace the wire harness under my dash.  Has anyone attempted this and what kind of mess will I be getting into?  It appears that is fairly simple wiring and I will be using the harness from Year One that is supposed to be to original specs.  My car does not have A/C.   I would appreciate any tips or advice.  BTW its a 1973 Cuda.

Thanks

it is not a bad job to do , drop the column down & pull the instrument panel , most of the wiring is in that area except for dome light & heater wiring

Thanks,  sounds easy enough.   Will I have any problems with the dome light and heater connections or are you saying that they are not connected behind the instrument panel?  Just a matter of tracing them to the point of connection?  Will I have to mess with any of the column wires?

dome lights & taillights are behind the kick panels there are 2 column connectors ign & turn signals , you have to unbolt the fuse panel from the firewall & disconnect the front engine, lighting , wiper motor & trans harnesses , the nuts are on the firewall side  . Just take your time & trace the old wires & plug in new where they disconnect , it may be easier to start at the passenger side & work your way across the car .
