How do I swap a 3 on the tree to 3 on the floor?

I'm thinking of picking up a new project that has a 3 on the tree.   I'd want to swap it to a floor shift right away.  I had a manual 3 speed in my first challenger and didn't mind it a bit, it was pretty cool once I finally got the linkage and shifter working correctly.   That was many moons ago. 

What do I need to install a floor shift instead of the column shift? 
Is there a bracket on the trans for the shifter to bolt too?   
Do I need new shifting rods?
Can you still get a 3 speed shifter for that application?

Any help you can give me would be great!

you will need the shifter mount bracket & shifter as well as the rods & probably a floor hump to clear the shifter as well , not sure where to find the shifter , I would start with swap meets or used parts dealers

Sounds easy enough, anyone have  leftover 3spd they swapped for a 4spd?

I wonder if the generic ones they sell in Summit would work?

One other thing to do is to completely dissamble the steering column and transplant the shift indicator portion to a non type like what floor shift car columns are like.

I do not know if there is even a new shifter availble that would work on a 3 spd & I cannot remmeber what the Axxx code is for the 3 spd

So it sounds like the shifter is mounted to the floor bracket instead of the transmission, is that right?  Or is there a bracket that you add to the trans?

I'm curious as to whether or not the three on the tree has a floor hump added for the manual trans.  Regardless of the shifter. 

You might get lucky with that one and not have to graft in a new floor hump and cut out the auto hump.

If you put a wanted add on a few mopar boards, I'm sure you will come up with a three speed that someone doesn't need from a 3 to 4 speed switch.  Pretty common item.

I'm sure you've thought of this, but since you're already modifying the car why not just go to a 4 speed / pistol grip?  Parts would be easier to find and possibly cheaper since they're more common.  Just a thought.

My thought it just to slap a floor shifter on it in an afternoon and keep it on the road.   I don't have the project car yet, but seem to come across three on the tree semi-regularly and thought that would be more fun to tool around town with a floor shift.
