Defrost duct

I tried to attach my defroster duct to the dash today and the screws wouldn't line up. Screw holes in the
dash were wider that on the duct. Is there an adapter bracket I'm missing?

The defroster duct DOES NOT bolt to the dash. It bolts to thw upper cowl right next to where the dash bolts on.
