Mopar lighting problem
« on: September 16, 2013 - 11:34:06 PM »
No it's not an E-body but it's still a Mopar  :)

:1zhelp:  We're dealing with a '73 Satellite wagon that suddenly has no tail lights, parking lights, side markers, or dash lights, but the headlights, brake lights, and turn signals work fine.  Other odd thing is when the headlights are turned on the dome light also comes on very dimly.   :clueless:  The dome light comes on bright when the doors are opened or if turned on manually.  The headlight switch was replaced, with no change.  No blown fuses found either.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

Thanks!

Thanks, we're probing around.  We suspected the switch and replaced it anyway since it was the original; had no effect on the problem.  :(

Might be the firewall plug. I believe the tail and headlight circuits travel through that plug separately and they join in the switch up top. You need a wiring diagram to verify and you can get that on mopars.org I believe.

Most of the lighting is fused except for the headlights

Thanks for the input folks.   A fuse that looked fine turned out to be bad with a test light; fuse replaced, lights work!
