Headlight bezels - PG Classic - BEWARE!
« on: September 22, 2013 - 09:57:30 PM »
I just received some items for my Chally last week. I ordered them from PG who I have bought from before.

I live in Australia  :aussie:so I have to buy carefully to avoid (usually) outrageous freight charges, import taxes and little hope of returns or exchanges.

I ordered the taillight lenses and bezels, dash bezel and headlight bezels. I have my order dropped shipped from China and was delivered in a week. I'm used to 8 weeks! They were also about 50% cheaper than Year One's discounted price.

The taillight and dash bezels exceed my expectations. So far, so good - right?

Anyway, as I unwrapped the headlight bezels, my heart sank, I started squinting and went inside to find my glasses... They are terrible quality.

I recon they are a weird plastic material, they are both look bashed into round around both inside edges and the chrome spray (?) as been poorly applied/polished.

I contacted them and got a quick reply about a problem with the mold and they offered a refund and to pay shipping back to Canada. That's great, but I'm back to where I started and now have to go stand in line at the Post Office for a half an hour.... :banghead:

So the purpose of this post is to warn others about these and ask if anyone else has recently purchased some from another vendor and is satisfied with the quality. If so where did you buy them? :feedback:

I won't direct buy from PG Classics anymore.

They're shipping gougers, no communication, slow for the shipping they charge.

there are other vendors that carry their stuff.
If you gotta order their stuff and you're in the U.S. order that way.

Let them Cover any issues.

Ask for another set, once you get a set you're pleased with send them back those. Remember these are reproduction parts, you shouldn't expect top quality like buying NOS originals. :2cents:

I buy a lot of stuff from PG and I agree those are terrible junk, I wouldn't  be happy either. :misbehaving:

Now you know why I won't do business with those frenchies (yes canadian) anymore!!!

I got them to admit they sent me a wrong part but they said I would have to pay to ship the part back if I wanted the correct part.

Incredibly bad business and I agree they sell junk....

I have bought from PG in the past and over the years.  Most repop stuff was good.  I did receive a badly chromed passenger's side '70 sport mirror several years ago that I was able to return for a new one.  The second one's chrome was good.  I just recently took advantage of their Labor Day Weekend Special of 25% + free shipping.  I bought the repop '70-'71 Convertible Top Latches and Receiver/Sunvisor Plates.  They are very nice pieces, and the shipping was prompt.  Recently, I have been buying from Roseville and/or BE&A (and others), but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to save on the huge discount from PG.

Yes, I certainly wouldn't condemn all of their products....you may get a bad apple once in awhile, but for the most part their stuff is nice. I took advantage of that past sale too...I hope there is one coming up at Thanksgiving...

The taillight and dash bezels exceed my expectations.

Not saying their stuff is all bad. The other parts were of excellent quality and I ordered during the sale too.

I just cant believe that their quality control would allow these to go into stock - let alone to be shipped to a customer !!!

I agree that those parts are trash, nut I'd still be happy that they're covering the return trip.
