How about a Fluid Damper for an externally balanced 340 crank???
« on: October 09, 2013 - 11:46:29 AM »
My 73 340 crank is cast and needs a front damper.  Someone suggest the best is fluid. Will that be OK with an externally balanced lower end?

Forgot to ask,

does the flex plate, ring and torque converter match up to a cast crank 340 differently than an internally balanced one?

I believe some companies offer a fluid damper with a weight for external balance but a neutral balanced one is no good on a external balanced engine . The same Flex plate can be used with a specially balanced converter or you can use a neutral balance converter with a special balanced flex plate , either conbo will bolt up work for you .
