Vibration?

I have a vibration coming through the drive train that starts around 50 mph and gets a little worse going faster. Its a fast roughness not a shimmy or shake. Drive line looks fine & tight. I did find movement in the rear wheels like a bad wheel bearing. Top & bottom and side to side I get a little free play just like a bad front bearing gives. I'm thinking when I take the wheel off I won't be able to move it any more. (new bearings) Any ideas where to look when pull the wheels? Both sides do it but the right side a little more. Thanks!

the axle brgs can feel loose if the end play is not set properly , you only want approx. .010 of end play in & out

Could I feel that .010 when I shake the wheel from side to side?

barely , if you can feel more than a slight bump it is excessive

It is just feelable, not a loose feeling. I expected a solid feel. Maybe it is coming from my drive line not balanced well enough. Thanks for the help and for being patient enough to answer our sometime feeble questions.

you can use a couple of hose clamps to try to dial in an off balance drive shaft

Really? I never heard of that, I wonder if there is any trick you don't know about on these cars! What diameter are they, about three inches? Thanks again!

depends on which end but 3-4" the worm gear adds a small amount of weight to one side of the driveshaft move them approx. 45* at a time.
