z-bar pics needed....installed
« on: November 05, 2013 - 07:37:27 AM »
Does anyone have a good pic of a z-bar installed in a big block car? I just purchased a brand new z-bar from Brewers performance and went to install it, and I cannot get everything to line up, especially the clutch adjustment rod. I originally had the wrong z-bar in the car, that is why I ordered a new one, but now I am running into this problem. It's almost like the pin for the adjustment rod is on the wrong side. Anyone have this problem?

Try flipping it right to left so the other tab is towards the bellhousing.  See if that helps.

If you're standing in front of the car looking down at the bar, this is how it should be installed.
First off, make sure you have it installed correctly.

Now if your adjusting rod is on a radical angle, you should see if you have the correct length clutch fork, there are several diffenent ones.  http://www.brewersperformance.com/products.asp?cat=102  Yours could be too short or too long depending....

It is installed correctly. According to that brewers website all e-body small block and big block clutch forks are the same.

Yes, all E Body clutch forks are the same. Do you know for sure you have the correct E Body clutch fork ? Take it out and measure it compared to the list on Brewers site.

My car originally came with a 318 and a 4 speed and I used the same clutch fork.

Looks like I have it figured out. I got the new z-bar installed and now the new problem is that the clutch fork is too long. It turns out that the moron that owned this car before me,put a matching z-bar and clutch fork and then bent the clutch adjustment rod to make it work. Aaaaaargh!!!! Does anyone have a used ebody clutch fork that they don't want an arm and leg for?
