« on: November 06, 2013 - 09:56:15 PM »
Alright mopar maniacs what the hell is going on? When I turn on a turn signal on the cuda all 4 signals flash weakly. I can't even say the one that is turned on flashes stronger than the other for sure. Both rear and both front flash weak and fairly quick. suggestions????

Could be ground problems at the individual lights too

I would tend to agree it sounds like a bad ground.

I will certainly go through the the testing procedures above, but in the mean time. All the lights and housings on this car are fresh and I think I have taken great care on the grounds, but..........if I do have a ground problem would it be on one light or all of them.  All parking lights, tail lights and brake lights work perfect. Would it be a ground on the housing or the actual bulb socket?

could be either , often the the socket is corroded where it meets the housing so I have had to stake them with a center punch , or if the metal is painted the housing may not ground to the body or the valance may not ground to the hood support or fenders

could I still have a ground problem even though the tail lights and such work correctly?

Yes
if the brake lights work they can ground through the light circuit or vise versa , turn on the lights check the brakes & make sure all light circuits work together if they do then the ground is OK & the issue is elsewhere

here is a thought for you. After looking closely and doing some investigative work this is what I found. Without the tail lights or marker lights on, the turn signals work correctly with no flashing from any other lights other than the turn signal being used. With the tail lights on, if I turn either turn signal on they work correctly, but all the other lights dim when the turn signal element flashes then brighten again in between flashes. I do not think the secondary elements in the turn signal that is not being used, is flashing, it just appears to be flashing because it is brightening and dimming because of the juice that is being pulled from the flashing bulb. I am testing this with the car not running and key on so I don't know if this happens with the car running. No exhaust yet and the sound is unbearable. Is this normal?

So now I have to ask, how fast is the turn indicators supposed to blink.

On one of my cars, they are pretty slow but work nonetheless.

The ones on my 70 blink about once every second or maybe even less, pretty quick.  I still have the original blinker relay in mine.
