New K-Member
« on: November 17, 2013 - 06:01:09 AM »
The new Popular Hot Rodding Mag has an article on a new bolt-in K member for B and E bodies, that cost
$650.  Made by QA1. Weighs about the same as stock, but opens up mega room under the engine.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

Thank you for that  Looks like they are starting to get it and making them stronger, 2 bars are better than 1. Now if they put a tube cross brace between those two lower parralel bars and that would be a really strong front  :clapping:

I know QA1 bought CAP Automotive, but Is this K frame any different form the one CAP Automotive Products use to make?

The mag article says it bolts in and can take all stock attachments.
But they do sell LCA's, etc, if you want them.

The thing that would interest me the most about this product would be a frame that takes all the stock components except we could install a rack and pinion steering arrangement. Not that POJ that is sold now with a host of u-joints to curve around to the steering box.most likely barking up a tree here tho!

Be nice if they made a lightweight one, with chrom-moly medals, or something.
but how can you complain for $650!  Last new set up I saw was $3000.

Heck, make one out of aluminum!!!

I have yet to find a good rack system or the benefits , if the rack is in the rear you can use factory spindles but you still have oil pan clearance issues & header fitment is no easier , if you move the rack to the front you now need a different splindle / lower ball joint to get the right ackerman angles which I have yet to locate + most racks increase turning radius by not turning the hweels as much . I still think a stage 3 box or the faster ratio Borgeson is a better way to go .

Seems like it would be easy to modify, and weld in some bars where you want them.
