Sad times, have to sell one of the challengers to help family out.
1970 challenger 383 with slapstick auto. Runs and drives decent, never could get the carb to tune perfectly though so it occasionally backfires. Still fast though. Sounds mean.
Brakes work great. Transmission shifts smooth.
Originally a plum crazy car with the gator grain top. Vin and fender tag there. I have the build sheet as well.
Body needs work. Its a solid car underneath but theres rust in the lower 1/4s, which might be patchable.
The dutch panel, roof and trunk need to be replaced. The cabin floor is SOLID. All glass there and in decent shape.
On the plus side...
All original parts are there in the car and in good shape. It has the original AM only radio still inside in great shape.
Ive already added the following:
New tires
New high torque mini starter
New battery
New alternator
New mechanical fuel pump
Aluminum triple core radiator
All new wiring harness. This is the M&H harness with factory style plugs. Front, dash, and rear harness.
Petronix ignition (replaces the points style system)
New starter switch.
I believe I have new door handles and locks in box.
There's probably more but that's all I can think of at the moment. Fun fact, it was used in a music video shoot that hasn't been released yet. Kinda cool.
If you're a body guy, this is a great project. I had originally wanted to make this an autocross car so I put money into everything but the body haha.
As I said before this is getting listed so I can help my family financially, so Im listing it at
10,500 OR BEST OFFER. I really love the car and believe it has a lot of character and potential. Its not the prettiest thing but its more solid than it looks and has all the parts with it. So if you're serious, make me an offer and we'll go from there. Im an honest and reasonable guy and I want to see it go to someone who will appreciate it and give it a good home.
Car is located about 30 minutes north of Los Angeles.
Im also looking for a roof section from the top of the windshield all the back down to the 1/4 panels for another challenger project. If you have one we can do a partial trade.
