AAR HOOD pin disc what to use instead of riverts
« on: December 01, 2013 - 05:51:26 PM »
On the steel hoods the round disc is riveted to the hood. What is used on the fiberglass AAR hoods to attach the disc? Seems like the rivets would just destroy the fiberglass and unless some really odd long rivets were used I don't see how you could washer but maybe they did.

You got that info backwards....

On Steel hoods the factory used self-tapping screws.
On fiberglass hoods the factory used pop-rivets.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

do they use a washer to back up the rivet?  I would have thought the pop rivet would just pull through the fiberglass.
