Cuda quarter window in/out adjustment problem
« on: December 05, 2013 - 06:07:26 PM »
I replaced my driver side quarter window regulator which had a bad tooth, but other than that the window had aligned perfectly before I started messing with it.

Now I can't get the window to tip out as far as it should. It needs at least another 1/2in to fit into the top weatherstrip.

I have the bottom adjustment in as far as possible and the top is out as far as possible. Everything is in its proper slot.

I've been using the shop manual and also other pics that have been posted in these forums on how to adjust it. Any ideas on what I'm missing ?

Also.... my old regulator and the good used one I bought did not have a cam stop. Should I get one ?

I love doing E Body side glass...Without seeing it, it's kinda hard to tell, but my first guess is that the window itself is installed wrong on the tracks. :2cents: Make sure the round glider bushings (one on the window, one on the regulator) are sitting properly on the verticle track...they have slots that ride on the track, but can also be installed sitting on top of the track.

I've had them apart and checked them over and over to make sure. The track is sitting in a slot on both sides

At the very bottom...the "L" shaped bracket bolted to the top of the rocker is bolted in correctly ?

Do you have the correct regulator ? Did you put the new one side to side with the old to isure they were the same ? You mentioned no up stop, maybe there are other differences ? :clueless:

There is a right and a left as well as Cuda and Challenger are different, and convertible are different too. :dunno:

I had pulled the main rail as one piece , the complete window unit and the regulator all out by undoing only the bolts that held them in place and for the life of me I can't get that final little adjustment. What's really pissing me off is that everything aligned perfectly before I took everything apart. Before I had done anything, after seeing in these forums that there was a difference between regulators was set them side by side and compare them. They were exactly the same. As it stands the window works very smooth but when its about 1" from being closed you need to push out on the top about 1/2" and it goes into place.

For now, that's going to be good enough otherwise I'll take a hammer to the @$%^@#$%^@# thing !!!! :stomp:
