Thanks for all the info guys. I really appreciate all the input. I wanted to see what it would cost to convert a 70 to 71 because the 71 is my dream car. From the production numbers,i see they made about 3 times as many 70's as they did 71's.That's why they are so hard to come by and add to that their popularity and you can see that it is a hard car to aquire in nice shape.
I'm still on the fence about cloning a 70 to a 71. I've been looking for almost a year for a decent 1971 6 cylinder or 318 project car,but they are few and far between. They seem to either be basketcases or done cars. I seldom see cars in between those two extemes. When i do,they are big bucks.
Do you guys know of any solid 71 project cars? I have done major sheetmetal replacement,so i'm not afraid to tackle a project, but i've done enough to know that i do not want a car that needs frame rails,rockers,cowl,etc... I would be willing to do quarters, trunk pan,and wheelhouses. I just don't want to do major structural replacement and i'm willing to pay more money for a more solid car.
Thanks,Dave
