Split seat seams bonded to foam?
« on: December 23, 2013 - 10:08:55 AM »
Ok, I'm in the process of removing my seat covers, they are split at the seams. Most of the seam threading is attached pretty firmly to the foam below. Was there glue placed on the seams after the covers were installed and possibly the glue melted due to heat and bonded the split seam edges to my foam? This is a real PIA....

Are you sure that what you're seeing isn't the seam still attached to the wire stays?
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Aren't the wire stays only along the base of the cover? What I'm talking about is the seat bottom, the section where you'd sit. But I'm not sure, this is my first attempt at doing anything upholstery related...here's the best picture I have

No, there are 2 heavy gauge straps in the upper cushion and the lower cushion. They help define the creases and are located about 3 inches in from either side.

How do I go about separating the straps from the cushions?

They are held in place with hog rings.
