Dash emblem
« on: December 27, 2013 - 08:58:00 PM »
When I bought my Cuda the previous owner had already had the dash cap re-done so I don't have anything to compare to.  If memory serves me right, and at my age that questionable, the "Barracuda" emblem on the right side of the dash in my original '70 'Cuda was chrome.  However, as you can see in the attached picture the emblem on my current Cuda's dash is black.  Which is correct?

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

I have a 70 Barracuda. My dash is 100% original. It was a high end Barracuda when it was built. My emblem is embossed into the dash and it is black. I have seen some that appeared silver and I always assumed the owner personalized it. Maybe someone can say for sure if the Cudas were silver but I have never seen a chrome one.

From what I know of the Challenger script on the 70 it was a plastic piece that was very lightly chromed or silver painted so that over a short period of time that wore off and you are left with a black script. I assume it's the same for the Barracuda. Just Dashes just did my dash pad and the are now offering putting on a completely chromed script that will not wear off.

When the cars were new in 70 they were chrome. Any type of cleaning fluid wiped the chrome off over the years. :2cents:

Does anybody sell these emblems?  I've seen ones for the doors and tail light panel, but never ones for the dash?

Try some chrome paint and put it on with a Q tip.
