Hey all… if you’ve followed anything I’ve done, you’ll know I’m a novice when it comes to knowing how things are engineered or what certain things should look like on my car.
Well I opened a couple new chapters in my ’73 Cuda follies over the holidays…
1st – while messing around with the car I realized my 360 is not balanced! The torque converter is missing the weights. I found this when I switched to a harder tranny mount and my car started shaking like crazy. The old rubber mount was absorbing the shock.
After switching out the torque converter the car runs so much smother it’s like another car. Amazing!
2nd – after driving the heck out of the car the last year I was getting a noise that sounded like bearings in the rear axle needed replacing. No biggie except I learned these need to be pressed into place so I wouldn’t be able to do these at home.
I took the fish to a shop and later received a call with the final report… yep I needed bearings, seals and clutches the guy said… “and your posi will start to work again”.
Funny… I didn’t know I even had a posi!
I sure can feel the difference too.
Yes dumb luck!
