Chassis Dimensions
« on: December 17, 2013 - 05:30:33 PM »
At some stage in it's life my challenger has been in a low speed front on collision and the floor pan has been replaced.

I'm trying to establish if this has altered the distances between various points on the chassis.

Does anyone have any schematics or dimensioned drawings of how the chassis should be for a '73 Challenger? That way I have a reference point for work.

Thanks in advance.

Information is in the factory service manual if you can get your hands on one.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

Someone on here had a drawing of Chassis with dimensions......you could do a search.

I looked on my computer....but I didn't save it.  :bricks1:

I hid it so well I hid it from myself.  :bananasmi

Thanks for the image, I'll start measuring next week!

Information is in the factory service manual if you can get your hands on one.
I've got the service manual imaged below and all I could turn up was the few dimensions imaged. Is there another manual I should be looking for?

Any suggestions and other specifications people have would still be appreciated?

First off, thank you for the images!

Having finished with various family get togethers and Christmas celebrations I took some time to take some measurements and I ran into a problem.

Some of the measuring locations for the diagonal dimensions are at different heights. Do you know if those dimensions are taken as straight line point to point, or are they horizontal distances between plumb bob points on the ground?

Thanks in advance.

I would assume it's a plumb bob dimension from the center of the tooling holes in the chassis? :dunno:
Plump bob and some tape on the floor would answer that maybe?

That sounds logical to me.

It will be a few days before I can get to measuring. I want to right off an entire day so I can do the whole thing at once

Thanks again

Today I took the time to life the car off the ground, make sure that it is sitting level and take some measurements. Everything lined up really nicely, my measurements are in red on the diagram below. There are slight differences, but they are sufficiently small that they can be passed off as not having had an exact point to measure off, but the estimation of the eye of a bolt or a chassis hole.

Thanks for the pictures and assistance, I can now move on to another stage of the project, raising the trans tunnel and over trans chassis rail so the tko-600 will fit!
