fish gill rocker molding?
« on: April 15, 2014 - 01:42:01 PM »
Is there a way to tell if the Cuda fish gill rocker molding is original or a repo?  I took the fish molding off my Gran Coupe and put the ribbed molding on. When I look at the fish molding I can find no marks or numbers.

They're  made out of fiberglass and they have 9 mounting holes. There are some small voids in the material on the back side. I've had the car for17 years and they were in the pile parts that came with the car so I know they are at least that old. Did anyone even repro them that long ago?

If they are fiberglass they would be reproduction. But if they are more of a fiberglass composit material, they are real, the real ones are heavier than the fiberglass ones, not that you can tell the difference if you only have one pair to compare too.

They are definitely some type of fiberglass. I can't tell if they are a composite material or how the weight compares. I would have thought if they came from Mopar there would be a number and a pentastar on the back some place.

Not all Mopar parts got marked, the majority of parts did, but some stuff missed out. It would be easier if you had another pair to compare them to, then you would know for sure buddy. :2thumbs:

Your right. Next time I get a chance I'll have to look at an original one more closely.
