My Viper Brake Conversion
« on: February 15, 2014 - 01:45:19 PM »
Finally got all my parts to start the conversion to pre 2001 Viper front Brembo Calipers. Brads70 has the same setup. I used 74 A body drum knuckles, the conversion kit for this from Dr Diff which included the hoses, bearings and an adapter for the small taper roller bearing to fit the stub axle for A body as it was a smaller diameter than the C Body bearing which fits in the rotor. You also get the calliper to knuckle adapters which are CNC machined and all the mounting bolts and hardware. I got my rotors delivered on Wednesday night last and they are New Yorker ones for a 73 car. They are slotted and coated and are per the attached picture. Nice looking. Stayed away from drilled rotors due to stories I hear about them starting hairline cracks around the holes if they are not chamfered correctly. These rotors are very similar to my Cordoba setup but are 1-1/4" thick as opposed to the 1-1/8" thick ones I have now. I have sold the original complete 73 setup to Shooter who lives near me. So will chime back to this thread once I have them installed and taken the time to compare them.
