« on: February 09, 2014 - 03:24:49 PM »
Hi , 1974 Cuda front windshield chrome moulding clips ;question are any of these clips held to the channel with small screws or just the steel t pins weld to the channel? Also whats the best way to remove the windshield with out cracking it. Not like my friend who used a chisel and hammer on his Nova  .I have the t handle tool with the blade, also long razor knife any tips would be great thank you.

I'm not sure about a Cuda but my Challenger used the clips that pushed onto the pins.  I don't think there were any screw on ones for the windshield.  To remove the glass, I inserted a braided wire through the butyl into the interior of the car.  My dad and I sawed our way all the way around the glass.

On the 70 cudas they are screwed into the window frame. 71 and later they switched to the welded studs.

Do a search on the forum.  There are a few step by step links on removing windshields.  Good luck.   :2thumbs:

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

Thanks everyone for the help;looks like they put in 3 clips with screws on this car dont know if thats factory? It had a vinly top at one time. I am about 2/3 of the way threw the windshield ribbon glue;used a thin butter knife , heat gun then ran the wire around . Left with the bottom part now going real slow seems to be the hardest one to do.So far its still in one piece ; again thanks  4 the help wish me luck!

Well 4.5 hours later happy to say the windshield is out. This had to be replaced one time before they used so much glue and ribbon, it fought me till the last strand was cut. Its in one piece  :woo:. Now i get to clean up all that glue!!!!! Thanks!!!!!

A razor blade and 3M Adhesive remover worked for me when I cleaned up my back window.
