Water pump question
« on: February 14, 2014 - 09:26:44 AM »
74 Challenger with 340 non AC. I now have a 6 vane water pump that I was going to replace with a new one. I'm told that 6 vane pumps are no longer available, only 8 vane pumps which were used on AC cars. Will putting an 8 vane on a non AC car cause any issues?

It should only increase your flow, keeping the car a bit cooler.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

You beat me to it Chryco.   :iagree:

If you don't really care about racing and losing a few HP, as Andy said, it will only make your car run cooler. The more vanes on your water pump = more resistance to make it turn, so loss of HP. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it.
