70 Barracuda in the shop!
« on: February 20, 2014 - 09:33:11 PM »
Well, 12 years, 1 marriage and 2 kids after the project started, the car is finally in the shop for some sheet metal work!  Going in I knew it needed quarters, floors and some repairs around the windshield... after sandblasting we added a frame rail replacement (right side) outer wheel well and trunk extension (left side) as well as a small patch or two to the rear floor pans. There goes the budget  :eek7:  The shop has a website and blog (http://studzcustomdesigns.com/blog/) and I also get frequent updates/photos from them via email.
The plan is to get the sheet metal done, and put into primer, then it will be returned to me while I build up the war chest for the paint job.  In the meantime, there are dashes to restore, gauges to rebuild, seat to recover and on and on the list goes  :).

Along the way I've discovered that this is a numbers matching, original 318 4spd car with the console, rally dash, 5 speaker AM/8track with 3.55 gears. I've been in touch with the person I bought the car from (in 95) and he confirmed that he was the second owner - the first owner being his brother in law.  I'm hoping to get a history of the car from them for the period prior to 95.

Thanks for looking - I'm sure I'll be asking plenty of questions as I go along :)...

Well congrats on keeping the dream alive for all these years and finally getting to start your body work.  Looks just like a lot of our cars did when we got started.  Keep us posted on your progress and updates!  :2thumbs:

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

:iagree: Very cool options for a base model Barracuda to have a rallye cluster and 8 track, i think that is awesome :2thumbs: I vote for EV2 again, just like `Cuda Hunter  :clapping:

Yes, I'll probably stick with EV2. I like some of the other colors - B5, E5 and Y1, but I'd like to keep the tag matching the car.  I've toyed with M3 - just because it's really bright and eye-catching (I think that would also require black vinyl roof - I think that looks great). Maybe it would be best to add another M3 barracuda to my fleet :).
