Quick Dash Removal question
« on: March 08, 2014 - 01:59:23 PM »
I read most of the dash removal threads,,,going to remove mine soon,,,,,

Question,,,, is it easier to unhook everything with the dash tilted forward ???( ie, remove the 4 vent screws, loosen the 2 side screws, and let the dash hang forward).

It's hard to see everything with the dash mounted,,,didn't know if tilting it forward would be easier.  Thanks.

1. Remove the drivers seat and remove 2 of the 3 bolts that hold the steering column (loosen top right).

2. Get a trouble light and while lying down on the floor take some pictures of the backside. It won't show all the wires, but it might come in handy later.

3. Remove the left side switch panel first, then the main panel. You might be able to tilt the top forward in order to gain access to the wires. If you have a phone with a camera, take lots of pics before you remove any of the wires.

4. Take lots of pictures.

5. Take lots of pictures.

It can be kinda scary, but actually its not that bad when you take lots of pictures.  Its the difference between  :woohoo: and  :pullinghair: .    :D

Seriously, its not that bad. The wiring is very basic and there's plenty of info in these forums.

I have car totally gutted ( interior, carpet, seats, headliner, etc ) all out. Just the dash and steering wheel inside,,,front windshield is still in...

I was hoping I could just unplug the main harness underneath and yank the dash,,,

I need to lay under there and get a good look at what needs to come apart,,,,I just didnt want to unplug anything from the dash if it comes out as a unit...

New harness will be going in,,,,( i have been taking lots of photos of total resto / teardown )

thanks for your post,,,,

Nice Cuda'
