inside out dent oil pan
« on: April 04, 2014 - 07:15:26 AM »
The oil pan on my 727 was leaking so off it came.

I know for a fact I staightened the pan before I installed it last summer,  but now there is a dent with scratches on the inside.  Whats going on here?
Not sure if it has anything to do with this, but the trans was also whining in reverse, mostly when cold.
thanks

no one..?  oh well... I`m gonna put it back on and hope for an explosion somewhere near the end of the season.   End of season would be a good time to go manual anyway....   :stirpot:  :burnout:

IDK I'm no expert on this but I would guess that arm is not supposed to come out enough to hit the pan like that.  :22yikes:

Nor am I an expert, but I'm sure that's not supposed to happen. What happens if the accumulator doesn't seal well?

pulling it down, it won`t come close.  I was thinking, maybe the magnet was underneath..?  not sure where it was when I pulled the pan  :dunno:  That would be a stupid thing to do....  :drunk:

That is kinda crazy but we are talking hydraulic action so maybe you can only pull it down so far but under hydraulic load it does?

I'd talk to a tranny shop before putting that sucker back up.
