Initial starting
« on: March 16, 2014 - 10:35:05 PM »
Ok, so I am not much of electrician. I removed the motor went through it and replaced it and all new wiring harnesses. When I tried to jump it across the start without the coil hooked up just to turn it over a few times before I let it really start.. I got nothing.

I changed to a single wire alt. It runs to a breaker then to battery. From battery to top post on relay.from top post on relay to starter bat terminal. Then the second post on started relay to the smaller stud on starter. Yellow wire on harness to bottm left of starter relay. Bottom right on relay to grnd.

Is this right? Its a 1972 cuda.

if you have battery voltage at the bat terminal on the start relay jumping to the next largest terminal should make the starter engage so iot sounds like a starter problem not a wiring problem

Doesn't the bottom right terminal either need to be grounded or hooked to the NSS?  Or do you have it grounded and its an old picture?

The starter was the culprit. Ordered a new powermaster ultra torque starter today.

I had one from autozone and it went out after 3 key cycles and 9 months on the shelf.
