My wife('71 Challenger R/T 440) and I('74 cuda360) went to the Legends Nostalgia Drags in Sealy, TX over the weekend. This is the one time every year we put our cars on the track. After killing a '74 'vette ragtop with a "built" 383 small block Chevy, I took on and beat a '71 hemicuda clone. We'll see if I can post the video.
At any rate, I'm very proud of my little small block. The '71 hemicuda belongs to a friend of ours who went all out on the build. It has a 572" Indy crate Hemi that was detuned to 700HP, Tremec 5-spd, 3.54 Dana 60. In all fairness, he was running BFG Radial T/As that are really bad, if not dangerous, on a drag strip, so he just spun through 3 gears. And, this was his first time on an official drag strip. I tree'd him pretty good, so that lead of mine almost was fully erased by the end of the quarter - I went through the traps at 106 and went through at 115 mph. That first run against the 'vette, my car did a best ever of 13.04 @ 109mph - so close to 12's I can hardly stand it! That vette dude couldn't keep his mouth shut the previous weekend at a car show, and I hear he was pretty quiet on Saturday night.
