Anyone running 70 Challenger tips on a 72?
« on: April 03, 2014 - 05:33:07 PM »
Ok guys & gals, I'm curious to know if anyone is running the rectangle tips on their 70-74 without the rear section having the cut outs for them?

I have a 72, and my rear lower pan doesn't have the cut outs for them.

The car has always had dumped exhaust as u can see in the pic. I'm looking to put full exhaust back on it, and run the rectangle tips.

If u have, do u have any pics?

Thanks in advance,
Dale

I think they would hang down too far and look odd. You would need to swap out the rear valance to make it look correct :2cents:

I'm just not really sure what else will look good.

Let's see some other set ups besides what I asked for as well.

Thanks,

Your car looks modified already....you could simply cut the valance out for tips  :dunno:

I did this. Cut half circular cut-outs in the valance. Regular chrome turn downs.

The thought of cutting metal scares me, but that does look really good. Wonder if I can get the dimensions of the 70 tips and cut my valance.

The valance comes out real easy!  And, inversely, the square tip valance is very simple to install.  The decision is whether to spend the $$ on the new valance instead of trying to butcher a panel that, if you stuff it up, will cost you anyway!!

I would just buy the panel and the pipes and tips!   Done!!

Yeah, the more I think about it, the less I want to cut the valance. So I'll either do custom tips or buy a new valance, but then that means I have to have it painted.
