72-74 cuda exhaust tips
« on: April 25, 2014 - 10:11:09 PM »
Are the 72-74 Cuda rectangular 2.5" tips from PG clasics built well
http://www.pgclassic.com/product_info.php?products_id=654

Ive put a 2.5" system in my cuda and dont want to modify the original tips as they are in perfect condition, would rather buy some repop 2.5" and am after a good set.

I have their 3" tips.  There were 2 things I wasn't happy about:

1) they weren't straight on the horizontal edge.  They had a bow or dip in them.  Once I had them installed I used a piece of wood stuck it in the tail pipe for leverage and straightened them.

2) On the 3" tips they where the pipe feeds in the rectangular piece there was a lot of slag and rough cuts.  It was a flow restriction.  So I used a die grinder to clean it up and smooth it out.

Thanks Travis,

I managed to buy on ebay just today locally, a pair of new Cuda tips, not sure if they are OEM, they very much look like it and never fitted for $157.00 so at the very least I can carefully cut the smaller inlet pipe off and re-weld larger onto the tip body as such.

I've noticed a lot of these tips made for 2.5" exhaust looks like the stock tips but enlarged on the end of the pipe to fit 2.5" exhaust. would that restrict your 2.5" exhaust system or not so much?
