No reverse Update.
« on: April 17, 2014 - 03:28:04 PM »
Just talked to the trans guy he said that the trans is a 904 not a 727 like we were told when we bought the car. He told us that the reverse band was shot and welded to the 2nd gear band. He also found a B&M shift kit in the trans. Having everything replaced including the converter so it should be ready tomorrow. The guy also told us that the 904 was to small for the 340 that is in the car.

The 904 is perfectly fine behind a 340 or a 360.  All you need is quality parts.  904's are actually faster at the drag strip then the 727's are.  You just have to build them properly.  I'd look into a TransGo reprograming kit.  The TF-2 kit is a great upgrade for a 904 or 727.

I got the 904 original to the car. When the PO swapped the 318 with a 340, he/she kept the 904. It seems to be working fine on mine with a basically stock 340. TCI sells a version of 904 good for up to 400 HP non supercharged. I think you can get higher capacity custom version from A&A. I read 904 is lighter and has less losses than the 727.
