Yearone Rant
« on: April 22, 2014 - 08:22:47 PM »
I guess it's my turn for bad parts. Ordered an oval air cleaner from YO when they had a 30% off sale. At that time the part
description said nothing about fiberglass. Well guess what showed up today? You got it. A fiberglass base.
After cooling off from that bit of news, I decided to see how it looked on my carb. The base of the housing is bigger around then the
base gasket.   :stomp: Unfortunately (fortunate for Y.O.) they are closed for the day. So do I modify the base of the
air cleaner? or send it back and try to find a used base? Any one know the return policy for Y.O.?
Rant finished.  Thanks for listening guys
If I cant fix it, it's broke

I got mine from here....  http://www.hybrid-fiberglass-solutions.com/
and a steel lid else ware. Post a picture of what you have , and how it fits on the carb?

Maybe I could turn up an adapter ring or something?

Here you go. Don't know if it helps or not, but as you can see the housing drop right around the base gasket
If I cant fix it, it's broke

They are usually very good with returns. Never had a problem that way.

Wow that is terrible! Are you going to return it or should we work on making an adapter ring to fit on the inside?
Here is mine for reference?

Brad, I haven't decided yet. I had better sleep on it, maybe see what YO says. I'll get back with you on that. Or
as "they" say, I'll have my people call your people.  :roflsmiley:

They are good with returns, after telling you that the company they get them from are the only one making it.

Well. just got off the phone with Yearone. Evidently they  have a note on their screen that says this part may
need glass work to decrease the size of the hole to fit properly. Sure would be nice of them to post this on the catalog
listing so people know what they are getting in to.   :banghead:

I don't get that.  It's far easier for the customer to make the hole BIGGER than it is to make it smaller.  Why not make the opening too small,  then the customer can cut it to size.   :clueless:
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?

:blah: :blah: headers, oil pans,440 Sourse water pumps, shocks, Keisler tranny kits, Exhaust kits,US Cartool stuff  etc, etc,..... I could go on and on about the stuff that didn't fit right  that was FOR this car and if I didn't have the proper equipment to remake, modify , etc... I'd be screwed. Hey if we wanted easy we would have all bought Mustangs or Camaros right!   :icon16:
Just wait till Andy tried to close the hood and it hits too!   :poopoke: :smilielol:
