Threaded Portion of the Steering Shaft
« on: May 01, 2014 - 09:50:33 PM »
Does anyone know if the threaded portion of the main steering shaft (where the large nut that holds on the crush can) are different sizes for power steering and manual steering.

I have two shafts, and the nut I have will only fit on one.  The threads do not seem to be damaged in any way.

Hey Jason,
I just rebuilt my steering column and replaced a power steering shaft with a non-power steering shaft. The nut from the original P.W. fit the non-P.W. shaft just fine.
Hope that helps.

Hmmm, thats odd. The nut from my standard column will not fit the power shaft that i have. The power shaft seems to be just a hair bigger?

There is no difference. Look for burrs on the shaft that the nut does not fit.  :2cents:
