Exterior Paint Code
« on: April 25, 2014 - 01:09:23 PM »
I received the info on interior color for my 1972 Dodge Challenger from you folks....very helpful.

Now can anyone help with the paint code for the original green exterior color?  I believe there was only one green option for the exterior in 1972 but I could be wrong.

My restoration is getting ready to go to paint in about a week or two and would like to get the exact original paint code for my car.

Thanks.

Here are all available Challenger colors by year.  The color will be on the fender tag.  It could be GF3(light green metallic) or GF7(dark green metallic).

Thanks a bunch.  Also, my fender tag says vinyl top and it did have one.  However I was thinking about leaving it off.  Did they make Rallye 1972's without vinyl tops?  I am an original factory kind of guy but I think they do look cool without.

Anyone have thoughts?

A vinyl top was an option.

So what color is the car?  Light or dark green?  What color vinyl top?(green?)

It is the light metallic green and the vinyl top was also green.

I kind of think like you, I like the factory colors and options in keeping things original.  I also like the Challenger without a vinyl top, thought in some circumstances it can make the car stand out.  The down side is that water gets under the top and causes problems.  Your personal choice, but I think the Challenger looks clean without the top!  Good luck with your restoration
