Well, didn't know where to put this, so I will just ask in here. How far do guys rev theire old big-blocks? Having a 383, fully ballanced with forged speed pros and lighter flywheel, stock rods and arp fastners, HV-pump and 1/2" pickup from a 6quart sump, what would be the safe limit you reccon? I realise no one can answer that question exactley, but a ballpark guesstimate maybe?
I dont think it will matter with my current combo, but when i go for a cam swap it might be an issue down the road.

bottom end sound bullet proof , cam valve train & springs are the weak link now , do you have info on those parts ?

Sure do. Comp cams xe-262h camshaft, 911-16 valvespring kit, comp lifters,  stock pushrods (should have...) and stock rocker gear.
With my stealth heades the cam is the limit as far as rpm goes i guess (plus my performer intake) BUT, when contemplating upgrades it would be nice to know that Im in the safe zone as far as i can possibly be.

Chryco, we talked about the lunati 60303 (or the new partnumber of that grind), Would that cam work with my current valve springs? Would be going to an rpm-intake before I o that swap (or singel plane maybe)

Sorry for the ranting.

Well 6500 should be fine , I had a 440 built I shifted at 7000 rpm with stock rods but lightened & balanced no issues
the Spring may be adequate with the lunati cam the lift is OK but the spring pressure could be light , I would get pressure requirements from Lunati & make sure the spring work . You may want to upgrade to 10* retainers & locks too .
Be careful with the HV oil pump & stock 6qt pan it could dry put the pan on a long pull .
there are a lot of good intakes , The Holley Street Dom is awesome for power & under hood clearance , the MI single is great but taller  , the Performer RPM is good also but tall than the Holley SD so I generally use the SD

Upgraded to 10* comp cams retainers when I put it together, heard bad things about the stock stealth stuff.
Well, street dominator seems to be something I will have to find used, as they dont make it for the b-block any more? Will be keeping an eye open and see what shows up in the future.

And, as i drift more and more off topic, would a sd intake (or maybe a torker?) be able to play ball with th cam I have in ther now as well? If i find one, an intake swap would be a fun project for a rainy day, followed by some fun driving after the sun comes out again. The cam swap will have to wait for a while as the front drums starts to scare me a little, so thats the next thing to adress really.
