Brake Drum advice needed
« on: June 02, 2014 - 10:11:06 PM »
My '73s 10" rear brake drums are mismatched, one is OE and another came from a junk yard and is different in appearance and slightly narrower.  I have never seen a replacement that looks like the OE, they look skinnier.   I ran across a good deal on some for a later model that are finned fits 78 C-body. I checked the specs at NAPA for the two models, both use the same width shoe 2.5". All specs are the same on NAPA parts except overall width is 1" greater 3" vs 4" for the finned. Other sources list them as 3.7" & 4.9" respectively

...What are the chances that these would fit with no issue?

The only downside I see, is if the deeper drum rubbed on the backing plate. Otherwise, I like the idea of the vents. Just my  :2cents:
