I just bought a set (4) of Hotchkis adjusted Fox shocks for one of my customer's cars that wanted a "better then stock" ride.
For the same price as my customer paid for the four Hotchkis shocks....I could have bought 39 of the Monroe shocks no lie...

Its all relative to whats important to the user. In your restorations, do you use officially license reproduction lenses with the correct stampings and part number for $500 a pair or some offshore plastic piece that fits with no numbers for $100 a pair?

Some competition shocks will be cost as much for a single dampener as your customer paid for all four of his Fox shocks. Different strokes and all.

You'll get what you pay for with shocks.   Adjustables offer the best driver choice, and can better match up to your suspension and driving style, but you pay more more for them.  I've KONI (red) in my Challenger... adjustable.

I was waiting to see if anyone mentioned Koni shocks.  Growing up those were the shocks my friends put in their cars.  Now there are other good choices to pick from.  For nostalgic reason's I like Koni.

I have a 1973 Cuda. Nothing has been changed customize wise, no lift kits and etc.... it is possesses the standard rally package.

The springs have recently bee re arched back to factory.

I am looking to replacing the front and rear shocks. I am hoping some one can provide me with the specification of shocks required. 

What are the dimensions (length) required for the front and rear shocks? I assume shocks go by a extended/retracted length?

Are the bolt hole sizes standard, meaning will a 2014 shock (Ie Monroe, KYB etc..)   fit or is a special order required?

Co-worker went with Bilstiens on his pickup. Loves 'em.  They have a plant in my town but they don't make ones here for ebods. German company, well engineered .Bilstien/RCD makes 'em for e's. Saw them on eBay. If my adjustable drag shocks can't be made to ride better I'm going with B/RCD. About $100 each.

You will never get a good handling street car with drag shocks. That's not what they were designed to do. I would order the Bilsteins, not the stock monroes. I replaced monroe stock type with $80 a piece Edelbrock IAS shocks and was amazed at the handling improvement. Particularily when the road has a lot of small bumps, the Challenger used to get a "little" loose. The IAS shocks now have the rear holding the road much better. The IAS shocks aren't available anymore but the Bilsteins are reportedly better.

As long as we are talking drag shocks, I was going to replace all four corners in my Yellow Cuda and hit some snags and only replaced the front shocks with Bilsteins and WOW the front end of the car feels like you can really control it compared to the POS drag shocks that were in it before which made it ride like a freaking tank.

Can't wait to replace the rears and while I'm at it I will replace the Blue fuel pump with a Red one since it's overkill.

my Monroe's suck,bottomed out on my exhaust doing 40 with just a slight dip in the road.ofcourse my car sits a bit on the low side.
