Cold Air Induction
« on: June 25, 2014 - 05:52:36 AM »
Just read in the new Mopar Muscle that an after market cold air induction kit on a newer 6.1 Hemi Challenger gained
20 RWHP and 20 FT-lb torque. That's some cheap power!

72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

its a pitty the Cuda sports hood isnt functional, easy enough to make it functional but im not into cutting holes in origianl hoods, here is a link to a local Cuda racer, using an AAR hood with race style cold air

Cool pics!  Ya, I would not want to mess with an original hood, but I don't have a problem modifying my fiberglass hood.

No problems, that Cuda is actually a 73 I think, it had round tail lights so 72-74. the build is FEBO

The track is Ipswich Raceway just outside of Brisbane, Queensland and was last weekend, Im about 15Min from the track but was busy replacing some rusty trunk floor sections so couldnt make it out for a look

cool pics  :2thumbs:
I remember a discussion on opening the scoops on a cuda rallye hood. Word was it`s not effective due too small openings  :dunno:
Was that based on using it for a ram air system?  I`ve had plans to build me a steel aar hood, an I `ve been looking out for a plat hood to start with, but even those don`t grow exactly grow on trees here.
Looking at the hood in the pics makes me wonder how a similar airbox would work under a rallye hood?  Anyone got some intelligent info on the subject?

For around $100, I'd go this route:

72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.
