a500 v a518

I cant find a a518 but I found a a500 trans for 300 bucks. What do I need to do to make it last in my 73 Cuda with a 360 with 375 hp and 3.91 gears. I don't hit the strip very often, but love to do burnouts and cookies. So no super hard launches. I read an article some place that mentioned a guy racing a 70 Cuda and picked up a full second off his times changing from a 727 to a 904 so there's gotta be some performance goodies for the 904/a500. What do you guys recommend for a good street/strip combo. My 727 has a 2500 stall conv. in it now so probably I will stick with the same stall speed. Maybe go with a 3000 stall since I can lock up the converter. Thanks!

Look up SMR Motorsports.  They seem to be very knowledgeable with the 500/518.  They also make a 2.74 first gear for the 500.
