BonSpeed wheels
« on: May 17, 2017 - 11:54:13 AM »
Hey Guys
Just a warning to you. Some of you are following my pro-touring Cuda build and know that I ordered a set of custom wheels for the project.
Honor and integrity are important to me...I make it a point to "Do what I say I will....and I dont make promises I cant keep".
Well....BonSpeed told me it would take 10 weeks....and we are now at 20 weeks.  I have been building hot rods and customs for over 25 years now and this is total crap. To aggravate the issue they dont tell you the truth but instead lie to you about the hold up like your some sort of idiot. It doesn't take months to CNC machine a wheel, and powder coating doesn't take weeks. I dont know how many times they told me over the pas 2 months the wheels would be shipping "This Friday"......Then they missed the truck...then they werent perfect and had to go back to powder coat.....then they missed the Truck again......
The owner BRAD FRANSHAW actually called me twice and apologized for the delay, he swore to me that the would ship...."This Friday" for absolutely sure no questions asked", "I will take care of it personally"...guess what....they still havent shipped. SO...I am here to warn you guys about this company. If your ordering custom wheels LOOK ELSEWHERE ! Unless you are comfortable paying over 3K and then waiting half a year to get a set of wheels.
I was more than happy to give them a glowing review if they were a trust worthy and reputable company, but sadly, this is not the case and no matter how nice the wheels turn out to be, it wasn't worth the aggravation. My suggestion is to use another company.

What is it with wheel companies??  I bought wheels from Stockton wheel and USA 6x6. Both took over 3 times longer than their promised times. Then both companies had poor quality. Hope you get what you ordered in the end.

Sorry to hear about your Issues with Bonspeed. I ordered a set last year, similar waiting issues ...they quoted me 6-8 weeks and it took 12 weeks but once I received them I was more than happy with their quality and finish.  It's not just them or wheel companies in general, I was quoted 6 weeks for an instrument cluster restoration and that took 12 weeks also.

I hate to say it but it not just wheels or even the auto parts industry, it seems to be a bit rampant throughout society these days. Its almost like it is expected or totally "ok" to over promise and under deliver. Must have something to do with generations, education or something but I have experienced it everywhere with a wide variety of services. Point is case, while rebuilding my shop recently I order some LED T8 lights; they were relatively quick to ship but they shipped the wrong items. I emailed, called, etc w/o so much as a response. I ended up using the lights but they were not what I ordered or wanted and I was against the clock to a point.

Agreed with all have said.
Same experiences here. As everything is moving away from brick and mortar to online ordering I see the "return" policy becoming a large portion of profit. Make returns difficult and most will give up and just repurchase what they need. Now the company has sold product twice.

Sorry for the off topic rant..
Hope it ends up working out with them.
Removing the warning labels one at a time.
