It was on the intake, not the firewall.

So what emission equipment/parts were on a 1970 Challenger(CA)? Say a 440?  PVC valve, Sealed ( non vented)gas cap, that mess of tubes in the trunk, 2 nipple? 3 nipple? valve cover breather? , hose going from the breather to the air cleaner. gas tank with 5 nipples,  Am I missing anything else?  :dunno:

Pretty close, the distributor had an electric lock out on vacuum advance plus a different curve & the carb was jetted leaner....

Thanks I ask as I hear the emissions "police" around here are getting anal and require all the emissions equipment the car/engine came with. Just wanted to be ready and no be surprised at something missing?

Doubt many smog inspectors would know what to look for..... Most would expect things that don't belong & not recognize what does belong...  These cars are older than the inspectors.. :roflsmiley:

No doubt, they have "books" that tell them what should be on the car, year/model/block numbers etc... ::)
It's nothing more than a source of revenue for the government , and these clowns make huge money/pensions etc....  :banghead:

Back in the early 90's I was still required to smog my car.
It was legal to swap to a bigger engine if it was made the same year as the body. I had a 340 then.

The smog techs were all telling me that my unsilenced 340 air cleaner wasn't correct.
They wanted to send me to a referee saying my air cleaner didn't have a TAC and heat riser.

Yup... And the cars were only 20-ish years old then...   Brad, they may have the book but as I said earlier they still will get it wrong....
