There is a vacuum canister on the snorkel. When the engine is first started, a door in the snorkel opens up and pulls in warmer air from the heat stove around the DS exhaust manifold. When the engine warms up, the vacuum signal to that canister is lost and the air door closes. Then, you are pulling in engine compartment air. Without the heat stove, it will take longer for the engine to warm up. It isn't an issue once the engine is up to operating temp.
That could be the source of a vacuum leak though. If you aren't using the heat stove, I'd remove the vacuum line at the carb and plug the nipple.
